Ohio attorney Joe Stadnicar has been practicing law since 1990. He is Partner in the Beavercreek law firm of Hammond, Stier & Stadnicar. Joe’s primary areas of practice include business and commercial law, criminal and white collar defense, concealed carry and firearms law, personal injury and wrongful death, and litigation and trials. He is licensed to practice in all the state trial and appellate courts of Ohio, the Federal Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, and the Sixth Circuit Court of appeals.
Joe began practicing law while attending The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. As a legal intern approved by the Ohio Supreme Court, Joe prosecuted select misdemeanor cases in the Delaware, Ohio Municipal Court through the College of Law’s Prosecutors Practicum and defended alleged juvenile delinquents in the Franklin County Juvenile Court through the college’s Juvenile Defense Practicum. On May 1st, 1990, Joe was hired as the prosecutor for the cities of Beavercreek and Fairborn. With his legal intern certificate and the support of the Fairborn City Solicitor, Joe was responsible for prosecuting all criminal and traffic cases filed in the Fairborn Municipal Court. The jurisdiction of the Court included the cities of Beavercreek and Fairborn, and Beavercreek and Bath townships. During the spring and summer of 1990, Joe shuttled back and forth between Ohio State and Fairborn, completed his law studies and exams, studied for and passed the Ohio Bar Exam, and prosecuted a case in the Fairborn Municipal Court. Joe was sworn in as an Ohio Attorney on November 11, 1990.
In May of 1991, Joe began his private practice with the law firm Gerald E. Schlafman Co. LPA; he continued to prosecute in the Fairborn Municipal Court as he developed his private practice. In 1995 Joe left his private employer and the Fairborn prosecutor’s position and opened his solo private practice in Beavercreek. He continued as Beavercreek Prosecutor until 2001. Following a year of solo practice, Dick Hammond and Chuck Stier invited him to join their firm, Hammond and Stier. Joe moved his office to the Hammond and Stier offices, and they later merged firms, resulting in the firm of Hammond, Stier & Stadnicar. Dick Hammond passed away in 2011 and Joe assumed the day-to-day management of the firm. Since 1985, the Firm has been providing legal services to individuals, families, professionals and small businesses in Beavercreek, Greene County, and the Miami Valley from the same physical location.
Joe grew up in a large military family. During his early years, he moved around the country with his mother, father, and seven brothers and sisters until his father retired from Coast Guard as an NCO with the rank of Lt. Commander. They settled in Avon Lake, Ohio. Joe graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1982. Following high school, Joe attended John Carroll University (BS in Business Administration – 1986). He moved on to The Ohio State University where he graduated from the Max M. Fisher College of Business (MBA - 1989) and the Moritz College of Law (Juris Doctor - 1990).
Joe’s education included more than classroom work. He took advantage of many opportunities to expand beyond the classroom. In addition to the Prosecutors Practicum and Juvenile Defense Practicum, Joe clerked for the Ohio Public Utilities Commission, Bankruptcy Judge Barbara Sellers, and National Fuel Gas Company (Buffalo, New York). He also interned with Ford Motor Company, the OSU Logistics Department as a research assistant, the OSU Property Management Department, and Eltek Corporation (Chardon, Ohio).
During high school and college, Joe excelled in sports, earning multiple letters in football, wrestling and track. In 1984 Joe was the PAC wrestling conference champion and a qualifier to the Division III National Wrestling Tournament.
Joe and his firm stress community service. Joe’s past volunteer service includes the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County Board of Trustees (Past Vice President), the American Heart Association of Greene County Board (Past President), the American Heart Association of the Miami Valley Board (Past Chairman), and tutoring at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center. He presently is pro bono corporate counsel for the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County and its Board of Trustees, and regularly accepts pro bono clients from the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Joe is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Ohio State Bar Association, the Greene County Bar Association, the Dayton Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Ohio Association for Justice, and the Ohio Association of Defense Lawyers.
Joe is also a member of Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, the Buckeye Firearms Association and the United States Power Squadrons.
